What does Sisterhood do? We are a diverse group of women in various stages of life; retirees, professionals, stay-at-home moms...and everything in between. Our main purpose is to serve the needs of our Temple family (and have fun along the way!) We provide many services including the preparation of the annual Hanukkah dinner, assisting with the annual seder, arranging for babysitters for High Holy Days, managing the oneg shabbats, a delicious break-the-fast, a scrumptious and beautiful Erev Yom Tov. In addition, we maintain the kitchen inventory, which includes the recent purchases of new tables, tablecloths and chairs. Our Judaica Gift Shop offers a wide variety of holiday related items, as well as jewelry, CDs, books, and so much more. Every other year we have our fundraiser - the Spring Auction. This is a fun filled evening of schmoozing and bidding while raising funds for good causes. In 2004 we helped pay for the new playground. In 2006 we have committed to giving financial aid to the nine high school students who will be participating in the "March of the Living". We also offer a variety of programming throughout the year with an annual meeting in May. Please refer to the "Update" for dates and times. Shalom.

What does Brotherhood do? The Brotherhood's charter purpose is to serve and cooperate with Temple Emanuel in stimulating Jewish religious activities, and to foster cultural and educational advancement among its members, the Congregation, and the Jewish people at large. Only recently formed in 2004, the Brotherhood has already successfully tackled such projects as funding and erecting the Temple's current playground set, landscaping the Temple grounds, and more. Temple Emanuel's Brotherhood is gaining in number and accomplishments, and they are looking for "more than a few good men" to join this band of brothers and make a meaningful difference to our Temple and its members.

Temple Emanuel Committees
The business of running a religious organization to best serve its members' needs requires many volunteer hours by many individuals. These few serve the needs of the many, and Temple Emanuel always appreciates congregants who are willing to step up and help out. Currently, these needs are served by the following committees; Membership: ensuring the growth of our congregation; Social: creating opportunities for more social interaction; Fundraising: attending to the financial needs of our existence; House: providing building upkeep and ensuring safety and municipal codes are met; Finance: tracking and management of fiscal accounts; Caring: identifying and contacting ill members and shut-ins; and Worship: examining and improving our worship practices to best meet the diverse needs of our congregants. Please call or contact the office using the contact form on this site if you can contribute by serving on or assisting a committee.
